Every record in Europe PMC whose title or abstract names cold atmospheric plasma or its variants: 4,846 papers. Of those, 459 were published in 2026 alone — about two a day. 33 are systematic reviews. 37 are controlled trials in living subjects, and two of those are veterinary. The strongest single result pools 12 randomised trials covering 477 patients in chronic wounds.
Human evidence for almost everything else. Publication volume has grown roughly seventyfold since 2005. Published human trials have run at a steady two to four per year throughout.
It's startling, it's true, and it sounds like an attack on the category. That's why it gets believed.
“477 patients across twelve trials” is honest. “Hundreds of studies” is not.
Europe PMC is free. Search the phrase restricted to title and abstract — and know that an unrestricted search returns 6,544, about a third of which are about blood plasma.
